On Mother’s Day, harpist Megan Conley brings her Ocean Music Action project to GatherNYC in a concert paired with a volunteer day of climate action. OMA uses the transformative power of music to inspire greater stewardship of oceans and waterways, and the musical selections are inspired by the natural world. Megan, formerly the principal harpist of the Houston Symphony now living in Honolulu, will be joined by several of her esteemed colleagues from The Knights for a special program honoring mother earth.
GatherNYC is a revolutionary concert experience founded in 2018 by cellist Laura Metcalf and guitarist Rupert Boyd. The 2023-24 season at the series’ home venue, Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in Columbus Circle, includes 16 concerts and runs from October 22, 2023 through May 26, 2024, with concerts held every other Sunday at 11am in The Theater at MAD.
Guests at GatherNYC are served exquisite live classical music performed by New York’s immensely talented artists, artisanal coffee and pastries, a taste of spoken word, and a brief celebration of silence. The entire experience lasts one hour and evokes the community and spiritual nourishment of a religious service – but the religion is music, and all are welcome. Coffee and pastries are served before each performance at 10:30am.
On this special day, dedicated to all mothers and families of every kind, CPNJ is proud to present a captivating live performance of Peter and the Wolf for the very first time. In addition, we are thrilled to showcase the talented winner of our Mary G. Roebling Youth Concerto Competition, who will be accompanied by a full orchestra. Please join us for an afternoon full of fantasy and joy.
